My Go-To Skincare Picks for Photoshoots

My Go-To Skincare Picks for Photoshoots
How I prep my clients’ skin for flawless, camera-ready results.

Photoshoots are unforgiving — every detail is magnified under high-resolution lenses and lighting.
As a makeup artist, I’ve learned that the secret to flawless, glowing makeup isn’t just the foundation or setting spray…
It’s the skincare prep before I even open the makeup kit.

Today I’m sharing my go-to skincare products and routine that I use on models, brides, and clients before they step in front of the camera.

1. Clean, Balanced Skin Is Non-Negotiable

I always start by cleansing with something gentle — no stripping foams or harsh acids.
Then I reach for RIMAN’s Calming Balance Gel, which helps reduce redness, tighten pores slightly, and leave the skin calm but hydrated.

Tip: Skin that's calm photographs better. Redness, texture, and oiliness all show up on camera, so less inflammation = less editing.

2. Ampoules = Glow Without Grease

Next, I apply a few drops of the RIMAN Radiansome™ Ampoule — a powerful hydrating treatment that makes skin look plump and radiant without feeling sticky.
It absorbs quickly, layers beautifully under makeup, and helps the foundation glide on like silk.

I’ve had photographers compliment my clients' skin, thinking it was filter or editing. It’s really just good prep.

3. Lock In Hydration With the Right Cream

For most shoots, especially indoors or under lights, I use the ICD Dermatology Cream.
It provides long-lasting hydration and smoothes the surface of the skin without adding too much shine.
Perfect for HD cameras and flash.

4. Finish With a Fine Mist

Just before makeup, I lightly mist the skin with Two-Phase Oil Mist from RIMAN.
It seals in moisture, preps the surface, and gives skin that “lit from within” look — even before highlighter.
